What We Do:

Ed Siarkowicz Northeast Florida Severe Weather Reporters

Northeast Florida receives it's radar information from Doppler installations in Jacksonville and Melbourne. Because of the distance between the two towers and the curvature of the Earth, there is a "Gap" in radar coverage that encompasses the entirety of Flagler County. "The Gap" is a blind spot. The skies over the northern half of Flagler County are virtually invisible on Doppler Radar from the ground to 5,000 feet. In the southern half of the county this extends upward to 10,000 feet, allowing low altitude storms containing severe weather to come into our area literally, under the radar.

Northeast Florida Severe Weather Reporters is a group of Skywarn certified professional photographers who go out into "The Gap" when severe weather approaches. We are the eyes and ears of the National Weather Service and the Flagler County Emergency Operations Center, storm chasing for public safety in the blind spot, providing data and information that would otherwise be unavailable.

Our Mission:

1. To take our professional abilities in photography and videography, and our growing skillset in storm tracking, and provide visual documentation for the severe weather that enters Flagler County and its adjoining areas.

2. To take the information we gather, package it in a non-sensationalized manner, and then present it to the public to inspire them  to become more informed about their surroundings.

3. To get as many Flagler County residents Skywarn Certified as possible.
